Book Description:
Santa's Izzy Elves stories are not your usual picture books: older kids who enjoy playing with words and reading rhythmical verse will love them, too! One reason for this is that although these stories echo the famous 19th century poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas" Santa's Izzy Elves are definitely 21st century, with electronic devices galore in their North Pole workshop! In this fourth story of the series, Frizzy, one of Santa's Izzy Elves, styles the hair of Christmas dollies, but misses them dreadfully when Santa takes them away on Christmas Eve. (She suffers from S.A.D.: Seasonal Affection Distress.) Frizzy decides she needs to change her job so she doesn’t get so attached to the toys she works on. She starts making something completely different but soon finds that her plan isn’t going to work out exactly as she intended! Recently named a finalist in the first ever Red City Review Book Awards!

A little elf named Frizzy works in Santa's workshop, she works on dolls for children to enjoy that Santa takes to bring to children to enjoy. It's a cute rhyming story that fits nicely for the holiday season.
Frizzy even though knows the dolls will have to eventually leave her becomes distressed about their leaving and is not content with her duties anymore. Finding her dolls gone on Christmas morning, with the overwhelming feeling of sadness or as fellow friend tells she has "seasonal affection distress" or also known as "S.A.D.", she asks Santa if she can change her job. Frizzy though is of creative mind and loves beautiful things. With he needs position, finding her self still not content cause now she is making monster trucks and well they don't fall under being "beautiful" and or very much creative, at least not for Frizzy. Frizzy's creative side, cannot be contained and she tries bringing beauty into her newly appointed position by painting pretty images on them such as rainbows and unicorns. Rainbows and Unicorns, there a good pair together, right? Well normally yes but not on monster trucks so her friends and fellow elf's thought........
Without giving to much away Frizzy does learn about loss and resolution. A picture book with simple illustrations, very nicely done fitting with the story. Frizzy's story is the fourth book in the series with each book their is a lessoned to be learned. If a lesson be learned you can from Frizzy, because at some point every kid will lose a object they love that is close to him or her and Frizzy can help give a little insight into it.
